Bit of a late notice on this but on October 2 (this Wednesday) BSides Harrisburg will be holding a conference on Information Security at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. The aim is to bring the local security community together to help build closer ties locally and form a community of like-minded people who share similar attributes and who are looking to expand their knowledge or strength.
Online registration for the event is now closed but you can register at the door for $20 starting at 8 AM. Included with your registration are access to the event programs, a light lunch, a T-shirt, and beverages. For a list of sessions and some information about the speakers click here. Included in the events are information about offensive and defensive security, software development, cyber security workshops and capture the flag.
Cyber security is one of the biggest threats that this nation faces. Central Pennsylvania is a growing region and while we may not have the glitz and glamour of a large city like Philadelphia or New York it does not mean that we are immune from these threats. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice when it comes to this or are an expert in this field, there is something here for everyone and it is something that everyone should know more about!
For more information contact Julie Goolsby at JGoolsby@Harrisburg.edu. Harrisburg University is located at 326 Market St. in downtown Harrisburg near the state capitol complex (click here for directions). BSides recommends parking in the Walnut or Chestnut St. Garages for the event.
