Working as a team

No one is perfect. Undoubtedly you have heard someone say that or you may have even said it yourself. It is certainly true. There is no one person that knows everything about everything and everybody. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and can all contribute something. That is why many businesses and projects require teamwork.

True independence

As a freelancer you don’t have access to a team to get what you need done. That is not necessarily a bad thing. It has taught you how to be self-reliant and how to find answers to the problems that you encounter. But there is going to be a time when you will need a team to get a project completed. There may be something that is too time consuming for you to invest the time that you have in or you might just get stuck. There may be something that is just not relevant to any other job that you are doing. That is where your team can come in handy.

But wait, you are freelancing so you don’t have a team right? Maybe not, but you could. Coming to a co-working space can bring you in contact with other freelancers, some of whom could have the skillset necessary to completing the project goals that you need. Those freelancers would have the skills necessary and/or have access to the equipment necessary to get the job done and best of all you can keep working on what you know.

One of many (and many)

There are millions of freelancers across the globe. While they don’t work in a typical office environment a co-working space can bring them together in much of the same fashion. That means that you do not need to buy all of that expensive equipment or learn how to use a complex piece of software. There is another freelancer that you can bring on board that does know how to use it.

Working with a team has other benefits as well. Bringing people of different background and experiences can open up new potential avenues that may have gone unseen had someone worked alone. Teamwork tends to produce honest responses as good teamwork can quickly and effectively resolve issues. Socially it can be a boon as not only do you need to have the people skills to work with others but it can lead to lifelong friendships that transcend the professional environment. Managing a team can bring its own challenge and doing so successfully can demonstrate leadership skills that go beyond the business world.

Find your place to grow

By working in a team it builds camaraderie. Look at any sports team or even to the military. When someone leaves those environments the most commonly cited element that they miss is the camaraderie that being a part of a team brings. For successful sports teams they win a championship and one thing that is always said afterwards is how everyone was a part of the team from the lowest team employee to the superstar player. Despite freelancing you too can be a part of a team and get the feeling of satisfaction that comes when a project is completed successfully.
